SWIT’s new S-8U63 BP-U Series Battery is an ideal replacement for Sony’s BP-U compatible series, as it offers both D-Tap and USB outputs which allows for a range of low power draw applications such as camera top-lights and video transmitters to be powered from the same battery pack. It even means you could charge your phone from the USB port!
This setup is ideal for shooting situations where you need don’t want or require the extra size V-Lock batteries demand.
If you are like me, you’ve probably realised that standard D-Tap connectors don’t fit! The profile of the connector is too large. Below I will show you a short tutorial on how you can get around this problem by buying some custom-made 3D printed D-Tap connectors created by Olaf Ekbergh from Westside AV. It can even be printed from your own 3D printer such as fellow shooter Josh Becker kindly did for me. For more details on printing your own, visit Olaf’s D-Tap image page here.
