Production is now going ahead for the short glow-worm documentary I had ideas on a few years ago.
I’ve started the draft of what the documentary will cover, and also made a few artistic concepts on how I see the various graphics sketches coming to life.
The main problem for filming has been how to approach the issue of getting the macro images of the glow-worm’s; they’d need to be recorded at about a distance of 20 mm from the lens in order to capture minute detail. Over the last week with Patrick’s advice and a few walks with Milly, I’ve looked into the use of surgical camera’s and various attachments for the Sony camera, but didn’t have much luck, especially on finding a financially viable solution!
However, yesterday I came across the perfect companion! A +2.5 Achromatic Diopter lens (used to correct for chromatic aberration) that effectively turns my camera into a microscope. Problem solved, and it hasn’t broken the bank.
